Macedonians leading technology?

I'm not entirely sure how we got talking about this bit particularly the other night, but anyways. Think it was something like this: There's a new head of the business faculty at the UNITECH here in Lae - Alan. He comes out for a drink here and there, and we got chatting about setting up here in PNG, which led to talking about internet or something... And he said check out "Macedonia Connects" thru google. Non-techo's might find it boring, but I thought it was worth a quick post. If for nothing else than the question of whether it goes along-side roads etc as a right-:

So which US company would be selling them the Wi-Fi and other transmission gear, and which US consultants would be selling them the "advice" on installation, and was it Lenovo (part-owned by IBM) in China who supplied the computers, and which US operating system and software would they be purchasing, and which US book store would they be getting their text-books from, and who would most of the data outpayments be going to, and...

Here's hoping the proportion of Macedonian web pages in existence increases exponentially over the next two years.

sO completely unrelated will my comments be - but I am fairly new to this posting a message on someone elses blog - blogs oh whatever - why you cannot be like the rest of us and just rely on emails I have no idea - oh well -

you sound like you are having a good time and learning and meeting loads of people - am very jealous - but I guess there is a time and place for everyone. sounds a little like college days with a compound and things going on all the time, and sounds very much like my memories of Fiji.

looking forward to more stories!

Ahh... Daddy asking the tough development questions. I'm more interested in What the tax breaks given to the US companies supplying x goods.

Ausaid recently (few years ago under the current govt.) changed one part of it's coverall mission purpose to (also) include "serving the Australian National Interest". Which always keeps life interesting when you're talking about overseas development. USAID, I'm sure, would have a similar vein.

I have a squiz here now and then for some partisan views on such subjects...
